After many months searching online, I managed to find an immaculate C1571 disk drive to go with my C128. Unfortunately, on testing, the drive would only work in 64 mode or in 128 mode single sided only. I send the drive to Mark at Rude Dog as he did an excellent job of re-furbishing my C128 previously. Mark quickly diagnosed the issue and replaced the 27C256 EPROM, 6116 Static RAM, both voltage regulators and all capacitors on the mainboard and PSU. Mark also cleaned and lubricated the drive mechanism, especially around the drive sled and the track zero sensor. The drive was returned to me very quickly and I am really happy with the work done and Marks extremely reasonable costs given the amount and quality of the work carried out. I am also very happy with the operation of the drive. Its notably faster, quieter as well as being 100% reliable. Excellent service once again from Rude Dog Retros.
